PROTEIN!!!!

No slips in the raw food department. I supplemented it with some yoga too (by the way, yoga + raw food = perfect combination) and even got to share the philosophy with an inquiring mind (and yes, question number one was "where do you get your protein?" Never been asked that before.)

Here's a quick and dirty way of clearing the protein question up (quick and dirty because I'm tired and need sleep):
What does every living thing have in common? DNA! How does DNA work? It codes for stuff using sequences of amino acids. What is protein? A sequence of amino acids! EVERYTHING HAS PROTEIN IN IT!!! Now the human body can synthesize all the amino acids it needs except for 10 specific ones. These are the essential amino acids. A diet with a variety of plants will contain all of these and your body, the amazing thing that it is, will put them together in the way that it needs to. Now, I guarantee you this is not enough protein to grow Arnold size muscles, but that would defeat the point of this diet. This diet is supposed to mimic the state under which the body evolved in order to maximize the body's function. For putting on a little muscle, however, you probably need more protein than this and would benefit from supplementing with hemp or rice protein powder (this is what I do)

So, can we stop talking about protein now?
